- Aiming for 1 million+ merchants in South India in 2017

Bengaluru, April 5, 2017: Paytm announced today it has registered a strong surge in demand as it continues to enable millions of merchants to accept digital payments using its zero cost QR Code-based payment solution. The company plans to add another 2,000 Paytm agents to its existing team to reach its goal of 1 million+ merchant partners by December 2017.
Over the past year, Paytm has tapped deeper into the southern region, introducing newer avenues for digital payments. It has partnered with all major electricity, water and toll plazas like Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, BETPL E-City toll and Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited among othersto build the largest and fastest-growing payment network in the country. Today the Paytm QR Code can be used to pay at pre-paid taxi stands, government establishments and even famous restaurants like Paradise Biriyani, CTR, Madurai Idli Shop, Swathi Group of Restaurants, Bansuri Sweets, Ebony, Kanti sweets, Catholic Club, Toit and Pecos among others. The company’s vision is to tap into every payment use-case in the country and digitize every transaction one step at a time.

We’ll add more than 2,000 Paytm Agents this year as we’re gearing up to add more than 1 Mn merchants in South India alone,” he added.
Paytm has recently launched customer and merchant help desks in its regional offices in all major cities like Banaglore & Hyderabad to resolve complaints & handle walk-in queries. It has made its platform available in 10 different regional languages and launched a 24*7 Merchant Helpline to assist merchants across India accepting payments using its cashless payment solution.
