T. Shamsi and Samuel Badree – the youngest at home but the fastest on the cricket field
Bengaluru, April 26th, 2017: The Fastest Global sportswear brand in the World PUMA, today hosted the first edition of the PUMA Cricket Studio for 2017 – an offbeat interactive session where cricketers share their behind-the-scenes stories with fans. The event, hosted at the PUMA 100ft Store, Bangalore, saw cricketers Samuel Badree and T. Shamsi share stories from both on and off-the field, that kept fans and consumers entertained.
T. Shamsi shared the story of how his career took a different turn at the age of sixteen. Originally wanting to become a magician, he switched careers and let cricket take over. On field, he plays his bowling tricks on batsmen, and off field he plays magic tricks on his team mates.
Cricket is all about dedication and commitment, and having the right coach. For Samuel Badree the best advice he got was ‘not to take too much advice’. He also remembered his first game for this season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he took a hat trick.
The cricketers also spoke about the recently launched evoSPEED 1.5 Cricket Spike, one of the lightest cricket spikes available today. The latest entrant in the evoSPEED collection is the perfect blend of style and performance. The evoSPEED 1.5 Cricket Spike comes with an upper of soft mesh, coupled with a thin layer of fused microfiber skin for enhanced stability and support. The toe area has been reinforced with a highly abrasion-resistant rubberized material for extra durability and protection. The lightweight, anatomically engineered one-piece outsole provides stability and support. The shoes are a stylish combination of Safety Yellow, Puma Black and Green Gecko that make the players stand out on the field.
Abhishek Ganguly, MD of PUMA India, said,” Our aim has always been to deliver cutting edge propositions to strongly engage with consumers and sports enthusiasts. The PUMA Cricket Studio is a platform for cricket fans to engage with their idols and become more involved in the sport. We want to take this experience to the next level with the edgy evoSPEED 1.5 Cricket Spike, the ultimate combination of performance and style, helping cricket buffs have the same experience as their idols on field this IPL season.”
Both Shamsi and Badree expressed that the evoSPEED 1.5 Cricket Spike helped enhance their performance on the field, while giving them the stylish edge. Virat Kohli, Brendon McCullum, AB De Villiers, Ravinder Jadeja, Faf Du Plessis, Pawan Negi and Dinesh Karthik are some of the other cricketers donning the evoSPEED 1.5 Cricket Spikes this IPL season.
PUMA believes in continually interacting with their fans to give them an extraordinary experience. The PUMA Cricket Studio is an initiative to excite and engage with fans all across the nation. Through these behind-the-scenes conversations, PUMA intends to bring out the lighter side of the sport.
PUMA will be hosting more sessions of the PUMA Cricket Studio in Kolkata and Pune in the coming months.
Sound bytes from Cricketers
“Cricket is an intense game, and there is high pressure to perform. It is important to celebrate every small win, and the bus driver dance is my way of doing it.”said T. Shamsi.
“The best advice I got from AB De Villiers is that whatever the situation is I should always make the positive choice,” said Samuel Badree. He also spoke of the role that right footwear and gear can play in performance of a player.
